This file was originally started by former QMS member, Lis Riba. She began by looking for actual verifiable quotes from interviews that mentioned which band member initiated the idea for the songs. Since the songs were worked on by the whole band, some may have changed quite a bit from the original idea and really have been more equal creations than a credit for the original idea may be. Personally, I'm not quite this into picking apart who wrote them, since they all chose to work on them together and credit them to the whole band. However, it's one of the most frequently asked questions, so I've gathered together the information that is available. In addition to the quotes, Kara from the Royal Vision fan club posted a list of credits as gotten from recorded interviews and/or confirmed by the Official International Queen Fan Club. Unless otherwise noted, the fan club information is in agreement with the quotes listed below. Song Title: Credits: =========== ======== Party "Party arose when I wasn't actually around" - Roger Khashoggi's Ship "I think for Khashoggi's we were all there..." - Roger Royal Vision's information said that the original idea was from Freddie. This may be one that they changed a lot as they worked. The Miracle "Lyrically, The Miracle is a definite four-way split." - Freddie I Want It All Brian. Confirmed by the fan club. The Invisible Man "I think it came from a book I was reading, and it just seemed to fit in with a rhythmic pattern I had in mind." - Roger Breakthru "Breakthru stemmed from Roger, really; it's basically his track." - Freddie Rain Must Fall QMS member Dan Blanchard remembered hearing in an interview that it was Roger's and remembered him saying something to the effect of he had tons of electric drums but the band made him tone it down a bit. The fan club confirmed that this is Roger's. Scandal There was a video interview from a metal magazine in a back of a limo with Brian and Roger, where they said that this was Brian. It's also been seen in at least one magazine interview. The fan club has confirmed that it was Brian. (If anyone can provide the exact quote, please let me know.) My Baby Does Me "That song stems from John and myself" - Freddie Was It All Worth It ?? (Brian?) Innuendo Roger admitted to writing most of the lyrics. [From an "Off the record" interview in '91] The fan club said that is was an effort by all, but the lyrics were mainly by Roger. I'm Going Slightly Mad Fan club confirms that it was Freddie. Headlong "I was in the studio for a couple of days to get some things out of my system.... I came up with 'Headlong' and 'I Can't Live With You'--the guys liked them." - Brian (This song, I Can't Live with you, and Hitman were originally destined for Brian's solo album.) I Can't Live With You Brian--see quote for Headlong. Ride The Wild Wind The fan club has confirmed that it was Roger, and someone also saw a quote, but I don't have it. Again, if anyone can provide one, please contact me. All God's People The fan club said that it was Freddie and Mike Moran. These Are The Days Of Our The fan club confirms that it was Roger. If you Lives have any quotes, please let me know and I'll add them. Delilah Fan club confirms that it was Freddie. Jim Hutton's book also mentions this. Don't Try So Hard ?? (John?) The Hitman Brian. Fan club confirms this, and see quote with Headlong. Bijou The fan club confirms that this was Brian. In one interview he said that he had to "fight tooth and nail" to get this one put on the album. The Show Must Go On "My tribute really was 'The Show Must Go On.' There's a lot in there. I remember writing this line--'my soul is painted like the wings of butterflies'--and I brought it to him one morning, a little worried about what he would think of it. I said 'Do you think that's okay? Can you sing that?' And he went, 'Darling, I can sing that and I will give it my all.' Because he knew what it was all about and it didn't need to be said." - Brian If you have additional quotes to provide, please write to me at unicorn@rt66.com. Thanks, Sheri.
